FROM LAPD WILSHIRE DETECTIVES...
A burglary suspect wanted for at least 25 Melrose/Beverly Corridor burglaries was finally arrested during a recent undercover operation. The suspect, using a heavy object like a brick or rock would smash store display windows and grab merchandise and flee.
A crime pattern "spanned over 8 weeks and included commercial stores along Larchmont, LaBrea, Melrose, Beverly, 3rd St & Wilshire Blvd", according to Lt. Bryan Wong of L.A.P.D.'s Wilshire Division. Wong says that a "Wilshire Special Problems Unit & Property Crimes Task Force (while undercover) witnessed a suspect commit a window smash burglary on Beverly, near Martel. After officers attempted to arrest him, he fled into the surrounding area, a K9 unit was brought in and located him hiding under a residence. The DA's office filed 1 count of burglary, based on the arrest and witnessing by the involved officers.
