Robbery and Shooting Near 3rd Street and Orlando

Wilshire Division Robbery Detectives worked around the clock for a week on this case and have announced an arrest of a female suspect named April Pitts, from the Fontana area. She was arrested on 07-07-09.  The DA's Office filed a count of attempt murder and a count of robbery on Pitts. 

On Monday Evening June 29th, A local woman, while on her way walking to visit a friend in the area around 3rd Street and Orlando, the victim was approached on the street by a female suspect armed with a gun. 

The suspect demanded property from the victim and was robbed and consequently shot in the chest. The suspect then took off running and jumped into a waiting car and and fled the scene. It is not known whether a struggle ensued or if the victim cooperated and was shot for no reason.

The victim was taken to Cedars Sinai via ambulance and was listed in serious condition. She is expected to survive.
