The Latest On Crime From Senior Lead Officer Art Gallegos

From Senior Lead Officer Arthur Gallegos --

Hello, I like to first thank the community for the support they have shown the Wilshire Police Officers, and most important the support they have shown for the senior lead officers. I am also looking forward to working with our newly elected Council Member and staff in continuing to make a difference in our community. We had four grand theft autos occur a the 700 block of n. Sierra Bonita Ave, 900 block of N. Martel Ave, Melrose Ave and Crescent Heights Ave, and Melrose and Curson Ave. We have no discription of the suspect(s) involved and I strongly recommend that people lock your vehicles at all times.

We also had two robberies occur this past week, one of which took place on 06/26/09 at approx 10:40 p.m. The location of the incident was on Vista Ave just n/o Melrose Ave. Suspect was described as a male black, 6'0", 170lbs, 25-30 years of age, wearing all dark clothing. Suspect pushed the Victim to the floor, then removed her purse and fled the location on foot.

The other robbery took place on the 800 block of N. Genesee Ave, which I discussed on last weeks e-policing (06/22/09 2:00 p.m).

I like to announce that the Melrose Action Neighborhood Watch will be hosting the Community Emergency Response Team training at Fairfax High School. The training begins on 07/09/09 at 6:30 p.m. Please support your community and attend this training. Lastly, I want to wish a happy 4th of July to the community and remind everyone to please be safe! Don't Drink and Drive! And remember All fireworks are illegal in the city of Los Angeles!!!
